In this 4 week beginner wheel class you will learn the basic fundamentals of wheel throwing including wedging, centering, pulling walls, trimming and glazing. The workshops will be structured to allow each participant to create between 3 - 5 pieces to take home after the completion of the course.
The class size is small scale for 2 people allowing more one on one instruction time. You will have your own wheel for the duration of the classes allowing you full hands on experience for the 4 weeks. Price is per person. This workshop takes place in our Downtown Squamish studio.
Week 1 will consist of learning the basic fundamentals and techniques of wheel throwing; week 2 will be putting those techniques in to practice to create your items; week 3 will focus on learning how to trim and add surface decoration/ handles; and week 4 will be your opportunity to glaze all your creations ready for the final kiln fire.
All materials and use of tools are included, we recommend bringing an apron and hand towel that you do not mind getting clay on. It can get quite messy so dress accordingly, flat shoes work best on the wheel pedals.
No prior experience is needed for the beginner class as it is designed to cater for people who have never used a pottery wheel before. If you are looking for an intermediate class please email direct to book a private workshop.
